The Jake Dwyer Band – “Cost of a Day”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of The Jake Dwyer Band’s song “Cost Of A Day” from their upcoming album Opportunity set to be released on March 1, 2024.

The Jake Dwyer Band features Josh Tipton on electric bass, Kevin Portwine on drums, and Jake Dwyer on lead vocals and guitar. “Cost Of A Day” was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Jake Dwyer at Shape Studios in Jonesborough, Tennessee. In addition to his work recording the song, Dwyer also directed and filmed the music video for the track, allowing his own unique creative touch to flow through both mediums bringing the song to life.

“Cost Of A Day” sees the Appalachian blues band honing their craft as musicians and Dwyer exhibiting his ability to craft an introspective song that challenges listeners to consider the value of a moment and the decisions that we are faced with daily. Spending a great deal of time on the road in 2023 fronting his own band, as well as playing as a backing musician for other artists, Dwyer is emerging as a multifaceted creative force conveying compelling concepts through his own unique auditory and visual expression.

When some talk about the most important thing in life, time is always brought up. How one spends their time, eventually adds up day by day to make their life. I think people get into cycles of habits, some good and bad. I wanted to film the music video with a perspective of third and first-person entwined. This allowed for feeling a day from the eyes of another. It shows an example of how some choices might have more of a cost than others. – Jake Dwyer
