Kristy Cox  Winds of Change

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Kristy Cox’s new album Winds of Change, which is set to release today. Winds of Change was produced by Jerry Salley, with tracks and vocals recorded and engineered by Justin Kropf at Daywind Studio, in Hendersonville, TN, and it was mixed and mastered by Stephen Burwell. One song, “Hurricane,” was mixed and mastered at The Gorilla’s Nest, Ashland City, TN (with Chris Latham, Engineer).

Musicians on Winds of Change are Kristy Cox on vocals; Tyler Griffith on upright bass; Justin Moses on mandolin and resophonic guitar; Cody Kilby on acoustic guitar; Jason Roller on acoustic guitar and fiddle; Andy Leftwich on fiddle; Matt Menefee on banjo; Tony Wray on banjo; and Magnolia Williams and Jerry Salley on harmony vocals.

As Kristy Cox tells us about the album, “Winds of Change feels like a snapshot of who I am right now. There’s a lot of life in this record—the things I’ve had to let go of, the things I’ve fought to hold onto, and the moments that have changed me in ways I never expected. I think sometimes the biggest changes in our lives arrive without permission, and all we can do is decide who we’re going to become on the other side of them. This album is me finding that person, while still staying true to the music and storytelling that brought me here.”

With lush guitars, mandolin, banjo and fiddles, along with Kristy’s songbird vocals, this whole album is a way to process and let go of the things life throws at you that were never in the plan. Uplifting and compelling.
