Eliot Bronson “End Times”
Americana Highways presents this premiere of Eliot Bronson’s song “End Times” from his forthcoming album Arrive, which is set for release on November 6. Arrive was produced by Oliver Wood, engineered and mixed by Brook Sutton with assistant engineer Will Tyson, and mastered by Eric Conn at Independent Mastering. It was recorded at The Studio Nashville, and will be released on Bronson’s own New Pain Records.
“End Times” is Eliot Bronson on acoustic guitar, vocals and harmony vocals; Oliver Wood on electric guitar and harmony vocals; Will Robertson on upright bass; and Mark Raudabaugh on drums and percussion.
As Eliot tells us about “End Times,” “My Grandfather was a contractor, a gambler, a Pentecostal minister, and a cheat. He built his own church and lived there with his family, including my father. I went there as a kid. People spoke in tongues, danced with the Holy Spirit, and made music. Lots of music. We were constantly reminded that Judgement Day was drawing near. I grew up immersed in a world of supernatural forces.
“Later, I studied Hinduism and Buddhism and discovered that they too believe we are living in a degenerative age that culminates in cataclysm. A potent mythology or prophetic truth?
“The last ten years in America have been full of chaos. Long cherished norms and conventions tossed aside like yesterday’s trash. Watching it all unfold got me thinking about those cosmic forces again.”
Uptempo with gritty guitar strings this electric talking blues number keeps it moving while it speaks of the apocalyptic feeling afoot nowadays: “Momma told me when I was just a little boy / You better get ready for the coming of the lord / Momma told me when I was just a little kid / Devil gonna come and take what’s his.”
