Dan Arwady “We All Start Out As Strangers”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Dan Arwady’s song “We All Start Out As Strangers” from his recently released album The Weight of Love. The album was produced by Dan Arwady; engineered by Gabriel Shepard; mixed by Bryan Cook and mastered by Jett Galindo with album art courtesy of Andrew Moore. It was recorded at 25th Street Studios in Oakland.

“We All Start Out As Strangers” is Dan Arwady on lead vocals and acoustic guitar; Harry Griffin on acoustic guitar and mandolin; Cassie Annunziata on harmony vocals; and Chloé Mendola on cello.

This video was directed by Wiliam Gawley and produced by Michelle Robertson and Charlotte Avenue Pictures with Wayne Halfacre as director of photography and coloring and editing by Color Synch Visuals.

This song explores a relationship that might have been so much more, a familial relationship that might have become established at any time between someone’s being born and someone’s passing away. It’s quintessentially poignant. The video is lovely footage is Dan playing and singing the song with Cassie Annunziata on a cabin porch in moving, heartfelt swells.

As Dan tells us about the song, “‘We All Start Out As Strangers’ is a personal song to me, one of the closest to my heart. It is about regret, about a relationship that never quite took hold, from birth to death. I hope it inspires us to take the time to be with each other – to be kind to those around us, to be human when outside forces call us by our statistics, and to remember that all of our actions, struggles, and moments matter, even if we’re not yet aware of how.”
