Americana Highways presents this premiere of Mike and Amy Aiken’s song “Just Our Price to Pay” from their forthcoming album. The album was produced by Mike Aiken, Amy Aiken, and Andrew Piland; engineered and mixed by Andrew Piland.
“Just Our Price to Pay” is Mike Aiken on acoustic and electric guitars and slide leads, lead and harmony vocals; Amy Aiken on harmony vocals and percussion; Andrew Piland on electric guitar, bass guitar, B3 organ, and background vocals; and Michael Grando on drums.
With a groovy electric guitar set up and pops of percussion, Mike and Amy pierce straight through to the heart of the matter, in this context of corporate greed and folks falling through the cracks: “if you could walk around in someone else’s shoes maybe then you’d understand why some don’t get to choose.” The guitar playing is smokin’ hot and the song speaks the truth.
“Just Our Price to Pay” was written out of a need to support others who are losing their freedoms and way of life. Written out of a need to lend a voice, support and solidarity to people who are being disenfranchised daily by their own government. Written with the belief that a songwriter can help affect change through verbalizing what others may not be able to. – Mike and Amy
