The Barlow – “High Spirits”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of The Barlow’s song “High Spirits,” the title track from their forthcoming album due to be released on April 25. The album is produced by Craig Bennington and The Barlow; mixed and mastered by Wes Sharon at 115 Recording (Turnpike Troubadours, American Aquarium); and engineered by Athena Wilkinson, Brad Smalling at Evergroove, with additional engineering by the band.

Musicians on “High Spirits” are Shea Boynton on vocals and guitar; Ben Richter on drums; Jason Berner on bass; Brad Johnson on guitar; Craig Bennington on pedal steel and banjo; and Andy Schneider on keys.

Summertime is coming around the bend, and this song magnifies the anticipation and optimism with electric guitar licks, swaggery baritone and decorous pedal steel melodies.  Shea Boynton offers a timely recommendation: when it’s raining in your heart, keep your spirits high. Bring on the party scene to wash those nagging troubles away.

I wanted to show that even when you feel like you’ve lost everything, there’s a strange sort of comfort in the things that never change—the bottle, the cigarettes, the old songs on the jukebox. They’re the company that keeps you company when nobody else does.- Shea Boynton
