Rees Shad – “Rattlin’ On the Tattlin’ Line”

Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Rees Shad’s song “Rattlin’ On the Tattlin’ Line” from his recently released album The Galahad Blues. The album was produced by Rees Shad, recorded by Paul Antonell at Clubhouse Recording Studio, and mixed and mastered by Doug Ford.

“Rattlin’ On the Tattlin’ Line” is Rees Shad on guitar, piano, songs, and voice; and the Conversations (Rob Kovacs on drums and shouts; Jeff Link on electric bass, shouts; Carlos Valdez on percussion and shouts). Tony Aiello also makes an appearance on reeds and horn arrangements, with Dan Persad on trumpet.

This video was created by Patty at Sway Design.  What a great title. How often are folks all turning each other in, tattling on the phone lines?  Said phone lines are wonderfully represented here in Noir fashion with real telephones in what turns into a little Noir vignette.  The video artfully portrays the swingy, big band, fun espionage style of this song. “Drank a cup of heresay… quick go in and get me more bourbon, I gotta process all the things that I’ve been learning, these strange rattlin’s got me off of my game.”

This song is a central element of the larger narrative that is created on the new album. I took Mallory’s Sir Galahad and flipped his on his ear to become a Noir gangster story. So we sought out old film footage to sketch out this video. – Rees Shad
