Speedfossil – “Sweetheart”
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Americana Highways presents this video premiere of Speedfossil’s song “Sweetheart.” This is the second single and video from Speedfossil’s highly anticipated new EP Room With A VU, Vol.1, scheduled to be releases on Boston’s Sonic Escort label on April 12. “Sweetheart” features a special guest duet vocal from The Chelsea Curve’s Linda Pardee.
The EP was produced, engineered and mixed by David James Minehan with assistance from Speedfossil at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, MA; and mastered by Alex McCollough at True East.
“Sweetheart” is Garret Vandermolen on vocals, guitars, and percussion; Linda Pardee on vocals; Dan Jordan on guitar and backing vocals; Michael Scotti on bass; and Chris Walsh on drums and percussion.
The video for “Sweetheart” was produced and directed by Joan Hathaway. “I finally see the forest for the trees. .. I’ll tell you what it’s all about. It could be better than it was before.” This video capture the high energy fun and the hopefulness that folks who’ve been estranged might get back together somehow, through luck or happy accident, or maybe, Funyons? All the antics take place over good solid rock ‘n roll by the band.
I think it’s some of my best work to date – Linda’s performance is absolutely fantastic, and David Minehan’s production prowess really shines. We’ve also got a super fun video from Joan Hathaway to go with the single, as well! We wove together a story line around a band performance, that shows two lovers that want to get back together, but have an inability to communicate with each other. There is some good comedy bits throughout the video, as well as a nod to Linda’s love of one of her favorite snacks, Funyons. We had a really good time making this video and I think it shows in the finished results! Garret Vandermolen
