Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Peter Parcek’s song “How Many Times” from his forthcoming album Most of the Time, which will be available on Aug 14. Most of the Time was produced by Peter Parcek and Patrick DiCenso; and engineered by Patrick DiCenso. It was recorded at Q Division Studios by Patrick DiCenso; at Lakewest Recording Studio by Jack Gauthier; at Ice Station Zebra by Ducky Carlisle; and at Dagotown Recorders by Gordon Hammond. It was mastered by Doug Krebs.
This song will be released on July 24.
“How Many Times” is Peter Parcek on guitars and vocals; Tom West on Hammond B3 organ & Fender Rhodes piano; Tim Carman on drums and percussion; Marc Hickox on electric bass; and Mark Earley on horns and horn arrangements.
As Peter tells us about this song, “Tim Carman brought a great West African drum groove & set us on the path. Marc Hickox (bass), Tom West (organ) & Mark Earley (horns) brought a ton of soul along with that. I wanted the guitar(s) to combine echoes of Jimmy Nolen and Catfish Collins along with influences from various string bending masters.
“Love is nothin’ but the blues – in this case like Sisyphus rolling a boulder up the hill only to have it roll back down before it reaches the top, endlessly.
“The intro came courtesy of the guitar angels. “How Many Times” is at once modern & ancient. The combination of sonics, rhythms, lyrics & intent feels exciting, like something new being born.”
This song is echoes of the wild lands and dark freedom, anticipation and sonic rhythms. Creative, bluesy and shadowy, it’s a powerful listen.
