Matt Jones and the Bobs “Isn’t It Strange”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Matt Jones and the Bobs’ song “Isn’t It Strange” from their forthcoming album set for release this summer. The album was recorded and produced by Zach Fetcher and mastered by Bryan Walthall.

“Isn’t It Strange” is Matt Jones on vocals, guitar, mandolin, banjo and hand percussion; Pat Keefe on lead guitar; Jonathan Crandall on piano, synth, organ and strings; and Trevor Creany on drums. Additional musicians are Andrew Carper on electric bass; Justin Doyle on upright and double bass: Jesse Welles on violin; Stephen Kuester on lap steel guitar  and pedal steel guitar.

As Matt tells us about “Isn’t It Strange”: “It’s about waking up one day and recognizing that every messy, beautiful moment you lived through led you to a place where your world couldn’t be any better than it is right now. “Isn’t It Strange” comes from our last year in college together. The words formed when a realization struck me one night that I could never have asked for better band mates, friendship, or memories with that specific group of people. It was so strange because it was so perfect at that specific time in our lives.”

Easygoing and inspirational of toe tapping, this song pauses us in that moment of calm where we realize things are all right. We spend so much of our lives jumping from crisis to crisis, but “Isn’t It Strange” is a deep breath embracing the good things that have come. Thoughtful music that reminds us why we love the folksy Americana genre.
