Ryan Dart “Dancing On Your Porch”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Ryan Dart’s song “Dancing On Your Porch,” from If Love Don’t Break You, his new album arriving on May 1. If Love Don’t Break You was engineered and produced by John McVey at Cinder Sounds in Longmont Colorado.

“Dancing On Your Porch” is Ryan Dart on vocals and acoustic guitar; Nate Barnes on drums; Katie Mintle on vocals; Peyton Langford on bass; and John McVey on electric guitar and Hammond organ.

Ryan told us a little bit about the song: “Definitely a love song through and through! And a list of the best things that money can’t buy….I’ve been obsessed with Bob Dylan since I was a kid. The imagery in the lyrics and the authenticity of his voice grabbed me. I first met him in 1999 working as a local stagehand for a couple of his shows and he signed the book I was writing songs in at the time.

“Years later I was out on the Americanarama tour with Dylan, Wilco, Bingham, and My Morning Jacket and got to see him play for a few weeks-so inspiring! I was honored to have been given one of his harmonicas after soundcheck one day and it somehow opened up my harmonica playing. So, when I went to the theater to watch “A Complete Unknown” with my girlfriend, it was a part of his story that was new to me. A glimpse behind the scenes of the love story with Joan mixed with this buzz of new love in my personal life was inspiring and this song just fell out of the sky and onto the page. It’s simple and feels like the kind of honest love song I’d want to hear so we kept the production simple as well.”

Take it nice and easy, this song is one of those pure love stories that keep it light and sweet: “I only read about this kind of love before, now we’re dancing’, dancing on your porch.”
