D’Lee “If There’s A Place”
Americana Highways presents this premiere of D’Lee’s song “If There’s A Place” from her forthcoming album. The album was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Jacob Kulick in Nashville.
“If There’s A Place” is D’Lee on vocals, and Jacob Kulick on guitar, bass, and drums.
In D’Lee’s words, “My roots in country music were planted by my daddy, and that shared love became sacred ground for us. That’s what I’ve always loved about country music – songs written decades ago can still carry a truth that meets us right where we are. Releasing his song now, and seeing how well it’s been received, reminds me that real country music doesn’t fade with time or with loss. Even though he’s no longer here, his message still speaks, and through country music, his spirit continues to live on.”
Written by her father when she was still a child, the song spent more than four decades tucked away in a binder, waiting for the right voice and the right moment. In releasing the song, D’Lee gives her father his posthumous debut as a professional songwriter — and offers listeners a rare glimpse into a family’s shared musical soul. The emotional centerpiece arrives in the spoken-word bridge, written by D’Lee herself. Reflecting on her father’s influence and the song’s long journey, she asks simply, “Daddy, did you find it?” In that moment, the song transcends performance and becomes prayer.
