John Batdorf “Suffering”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of John Batdorf’s song (and video) “Suffering.” The song was co-written by John Batdorf and Michael McLean. It was produced, arranged, engineered, and also mixed by John Batdorf, and then mastered by Kevin Bartley.

All acoustic guitars, vocals, piano, bass, and percussion on “Suffering” were played and sung by John Batdorf, with electric guitars by Matthew Batdorf.

In some teachings of wisdom, like Buddhism, within pain comes a recognition of the suffering of others and therein lies a seed of empathy for all beings who also suffer. This song’s expression is within the same line of reasoning and experience: “Today there’s suffering all around the world. Today the pain is everywhere, but now I’m carrying a burden that is far too heavy. There’s suffering all around the world and I’m connecting to it all.” The profoundly bittersweet message is delivered by John’s power pop style melodious vocals.

As John tells us about the song, “In my latest release, ‘Suffering,’ I sing to all of us. ‘In my new found suffering somehow my heart’s been expanding, making room to help you carry….yours.’”
