Sean Magwire – “Not Ready Yet”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Sean Magwire’s song “Not Ready Yet” from his forthcoming album, which is due to be released early next year. The album was produced by Sean Magwire and Carter Green; recorded, mixed and mastered by Carter Green at Greenjeans Studios in Wellington, Kansas.
Not Ready Yet” is Sean Magwire on lead vocals and acoustic guitar; Benjamin Cortez on electric guitar, keyboards/ethereal sounds, and percussion; and Carter Green on mandolin and harmonica. Sometimes a conversation with a stranger yields insight and abiding meaning. Sean sets this song up in the light of one such conversation: “at the risk of sounding obsolete my sentiment is not complete without the air of customary dread. I’m melancholy to the core…. but I’m winning just by waking up in bed… What is my Americana dream? Is there life after death? I’m so tired. I’m not giving up no I’m not ready yet.” Two human beings sharing authentic experiences, attitudes and perceptions of our most existential core.
This song was inspired by a series of conversations I had with the checkout lady at my local grocery store over the course of several months. It felt like we dove deeper in those small bursts of conversation each week than some people get in a lifetime. – Sean Magwire
