Chris Robeson – “Home in the Rain”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Chris Robeson’s song “Home in the Rain” from his forthcoming album Euphoriphobia which is due to be released on July 19th.  The song will be available on  May 31st. Euphoriphobia was produced and engineered by Gabriel Rhodes and Chris Robeson at Lampwick Recording Studio in Austin; and mastered by Mark Hallman.

“Home in the Rain” is Chris Robeson on lead vocals, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and keyboards; Gabriel Rhodes on electric guitar and background vocals; Matt Slagle on bass guitar; and John Chipman on drums.

Chris Robeson makes really beautiful, wholly sorrowful music, with lyrics that’ll tear your heart in two:  “I’ve got a heart full of love and a fist full of rage, I bury them deep until they break likes beasts from the cage, I carry my past on my back like bundle of shame, I would let it go but I know that I haven’t changed… no matter where I go I’m a little more at home in the rain.”  This is a true cut above.

My response to the previous song on the album’s plea for equanimity, this song is a biographical take on my own life. The lyrics are self-reflective as I take an honest audit of the things holding me down. During Covid, I had 5 friends commit suicide, which is a theme that comes up more towards the end of the record, but this is the first time it is mentioned. I admit that I’ve become addicted t omy depression, and I accept that home is gone forever. – Chris Robeson
