Ruby Joyful – “10 – 1”

Americana Highways presents this premiere of bluegrass-ish Americana band Ruby Joyful’s song “10 – 11” from their forthcoming album The Pie Chart of Love. The album was recorded at Mad Dog Ranch and Studios in Old Snowmass, Colorado, at Curb Studios in Nashville, and East Iris Studios in Nashville.  It was produced by Dan Rubinoff and Marc Meeker; mixed and engineered by Marc Meeker with additional engineering by Ed Seay; and mastered by Independent Mastering.

“10 – 1” is Dan Rubinoff on guitar and vocals;  Joice Moore and Laura Donahue, Chris Rogers, and Abby Siler on vocal; Eli Emmett on lead guitar; Drew Emmett on mandolin; Stuart Duncan on fiddle; Steven Vidamour on upright bass; David Alderdice on drums; and Eric Darken on percussion.

An easy tempo mandolin, stringed bass, fiddle and guitars create an air of gentle grieving and the need to be positive when things are quite bleak.  “Freedom left the house this morning… place your bets up on the table, take your chances with your sins, the odds are stacked against your favor, but I got ’10 to 1′ love wins.” Shiny strings stand out in the music even when they’re covering a gloomy topic.

These are the odds we set for love winning. We were first considering these odds for the 2020 election and the chances that love may prevail. It then became an obvious choice for a simple song about being positive. – Ruby Joyful
