Mike DeSorda “Bygones My Love”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Mike DeSorda’s song “Bygones My Love,” a production of Granite Mountain Sounds LLC. It was mixed by Mike DeSorda of Granite Mountain Sounds and Mike White of Mixing With Mike, and mastered by Daniel Szanto.
“Bygones My Love” is Jenna Cogan on lead vocals; Adam Haar on male harmony vocals; Paul Tooley on guitar, mandolin, banjo, and fiddle; and Nathan Yates on bass.
Mike tells Americana Highways that: “This song began life as an Irish folk tune, but I heard it calling out for a bluegrass life too, so I brought it into the world as that tradition as well. In many ways, that mirrors my own path: starting fresh at 70 as a songwriter and label owner, proving it’s never too late for reinvention.”
With an interesting history, this song, which was previously released as an Irish folk song under the name “Bygones My Dove,” has been revisioned here as the bluegrass number “Bygones My Love.” The instruments are lively and lilting and you’ll naturally kick up your heels and dance. With the sweetly nostalgic vocals of Janna Cogan, its a breakup song: “let bygones be bygones.”
