Cuchulain – “Hallelujah Forevermore”

Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Cuchulain’s song “Hallelujah Forevermore, from his forthcoming album Window Seat, which is due to be released on Feb. 14.  Window Seat was produced and engineered by Cuchulain, mixed & mastered by Sean Stack at Fat Cat Recording Studios.

Musicians on “Hallelujah Forevermore” are Cuchulain on pianos and vocals; Janni Wei on violins and Eric Alterman on cello.

This video was record by Cuchulain as well. Window Seat is a collection of love songs, loosely defined, of which this is the final single to be released before the album itself  comes out.  The video features Cuchulain playing the Steinway as he sings emotively: “there ain’t nobody who even comes close, Hallelujah forevermore.”  You might hear this as a love song to your personal heroes, as the emphasis builds and washes over you in a lovely downpour.

This tune was originally “Randy Newman Forevermore,” and it is definitely about him and inspired by him. I changed it at the last minute because I liked how “hallelujah” sounded in that church nave a little better. A friend of mine who’s the music director at a church here in Eugene, Oregon let me record on their Steinway grand on a rainy Friday morning two years ago, March 24, 2023. Members of the great Delgani String Quartet – also based here in Eugene, Oregon – added the strings about a year later, recorded in my spare bedroom. In the two years since I wrote this, I’ve performed it a number of times on tour and the meaning has grown and changed for me. Now I think of it as being more about the people and places who inspired a love for music in me when I was young. – Cuchulain
