Admiral Radio – “Love You Somehow”
Americana Highways presents this premiere of Americana folk duo Admiral Radio’s song “Love You Somehow” from their forthcoming album, which is due to be released this summer. The album was produced and mixed by Thomas Dulin at The Planetarium, recorded with band members of Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors and mastered by Voyager Mastering.
“Love You Somehow” is Becca Smith on vocals; Coty Hoover on vocals; Nate Dugger on piano and acoustic guitar; Matt Combs on violin; Will Sayles on percussion; and Rich Brinsfield on bass. A lot of love songs are about the early euphoria of first falling in love, but this one is different as it sings of a much deeper connection formed over decades, and the fully sorrowful feel of having to cope once that partner is gone. Based on a true story, written about Coty’s grandparents, one of whom is pictured on the single art, this one is a mournful tear-jerker. “I promise to keep my end of the bargain / the one we made the day we said our vows / and I’ll keep crossing off the list of things you wanted fixed / I’ll try to show you I will love you somehow.” When Becca and Coty’s vocals intertwine it’s almost unbearably majestic. Definitely bring out the box of tissues.
How do you muster up the strength to go on after the one you love has passed away? Recorded with members of Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors and produced by Holcomb’s longtime sound engineer, “Love You Somehow” is Admiral Radio’s latest sonic exploration that grapples with love and loss. Driven by piano, strings, and tight harmonies, this track personifies the human experience in timeless ballad fashion. – Coty Hoover
