Josh Langston “Living It In A Song”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Josh Langston’s song “Living It In A Song” from his forthcoming album Tastes Like Sin, due to be available on March 29.  The album was produced and engineered by Rob Hitchcock and Anthony Browne with assistant engineer Zayno Rayne.  It was mixed and mastered by Rob Hitchcock at South Main Recordings in Bryan, Texas.   This song will be available on January 19.

“Living It In A Song” is Alan Green on drums; Colin Colby on bass;  Anthony Browne and Braydon Watts on electric guitars; Rob Hitchcock on keys and percussion;  Josh Langston on acoustic guitar and lead vocals with additional vocals by James O’Neal and Simone Gundy.

This is rich Americana rootsy rock, with the rawest and grittiest of vocals, recorded in a loft with the ambient reverb you can feel.  It also has badass undertones.  Heartbreak while touring the country night after night is a real drag, we can identify with it even if we haven’t been exactly there, coming through loud and clear in the energy of this song.

“Living It In A Song” is about dealing with a breakup and heartache as a touring songwriter. Reliving and rehashing the pain every night on stage.

I cut this album in my hometown, collaborating with Tony Browne and Rob Hitchcock on the production. Making the record during a very contentious time in my personal life definitely shows up on the tape, I think. The album consists of 8 songs that span the length of my songwriting career. Some of them are a year old, and some of the songs are 20 years old.

The process actually went very smoothly for a change. We recorded the album in the loft space of the historic Grand Stafford Theater in Bryan, TX. And the vibes in that room make the album what it is. – Josh Langston
