Americana Highways presents this video premiere of Anne E. DeChant’s song “Change,” from her upcoming release, Every Little Everything, due to be available in October.  The album was produced by Mike Severs at Sunny’s Lab Nashville TN.  “Change’ was written by Anne E. DeChant and Frye Gaillard. The album’s cover photo is courtesy of Rachel Smook Photography.

“Change” is Anne E. DeChant on lead vocals, Alison Prestwood on bass; with all instruments by Mike Severs.  The background vocalists are Tania Hancheroff, Peter Cooper, Rich Spina, The Harris Sisters, Carlos Jones, Paul Lewis, Rachel Smook, Abby Smook, Tracy Pendergast, David G. Smith, and Gemma Pendergast. The video was produced by Todd Volmer at Wasted Talent Media.

With civil rights and current footage of struggles, Anne E. DeChant drives the point of the song home as she asks “what kind of change am I?”  From a mostly white perspective of support, Anne E. DeChant throws her musical hat into the ring of protest songs.

In order to write “Change,” Frye and I had to look at ourselves and ask tough questions. We are privileged. We know it. What are we supposed to do about the history of inequity, violence and indifference in our world? As we sing in the chorus, ‘What kind of change am I? What kind of change are you? — Anne E. DeChant
